About the Home

On a sunny ~1/2 acre mostly level and very private lot this elegant estate pays flawless tribute to the architecture and design aesthetic of French Neoclassicism.   From the wood paneling of the library, and the silk damask of the wall coverings in the formal dining room, to the statue of Demeter overlooking the pool and gardens every detail was impeccably sourced to evoke the sense of an 18th century Parisian Chateau.  This bespoke ~4,400 square foot 4 bedroom, 4 bath estate blends the romantic styles of a bygone era with all of the conveniences of today to create a tranquil escape just minutes from Mill Valley’s shopping and dining experiences.

From the moment the wrought iron gate slides open to reveal the trompe l’oeil stone façade of this elegant chateau you are transported to the France of Louis XIV, a feeling that continues as you enter the double height entry and up the elegant staircase into the library.  An awe-inspiring room that is actually a kings receiving room, each piece brought over painstakingly from a 17th Century French Chateau and meticulously recreated by Curtis Coleman (the builder who restored the Crocker Estate home in Hillsborough), and features elegant wood paneled walls, hand painted murals, parquet floors, 17th Century French stone mantle, hidden bar and beautiful curved doors leading to the sitting room beyond.   The expansive sitting room offers two spacious seating areas, a fireplace with coordinating 17th Century French mantle, and dual French doors leading to the beautiful stone balcony and outdoor seating area beyond.  The sophisticated dining room with its damask silk wall coverings and 17th century chandelier looks out over the beautiful garden and pool area. An adjacent chefs kitchen with Thermador stove, dual ovens and warming oven, Subzero Refrigerator and walk in pantry completes the public spaces.

The family wing of the main level is made up of a spacious master suite with coffered ceilings, his and her closets, French doors opening on to a private patio seating area and an elegant bath with Jacuzzi soaking tub and24 karat gold plated P.E. Guerin hardware (used throughout house). A second bath with oversized shower and spacious walk in closet can be accessed through a pocket door creating allowing for “his” and “her” baths.    The adjacent nursery doubles as private sitting room.  Completing the wing are two additional bedrooms and an elegant limestone tiled children’s bath with soaking tub.  Each of the children’s rooms has been beautifully decorated with blue striped wall paper, princess beds complete blue toile headboard curtains and spacious closets.  A charming mural of cherubs in the clouds is painted on the ceiling in the third bedroom creating an ideal oasis.

A lower level offers a spacious media/family room complete with DOLBY ® distributed audio surround sound and 65” television hidden behind a Renoir print. A closet kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave makes this the perfect spot to enjoy Friday night movies or host a Superbowl Bowl party. Oversized sliding doors open onto a covered patio and second lawn area with a garden path leading to the pool above.  The adjacent spa like bath features limestone tile, P.E. Guerin hardware and gracious limestone vanity. A versatile bonus room, currently used as a home gym, completes this level.

The gardens of this stunning property were inspired by the gardens the Palais de Tuleries of Paris and the famed Tivoli Gardens (Villa d’Este) of Rome and feature multiple flat lawn areas, secluded seating areas, and private garden paths. A statue of the goddess Diana watches over you as you play on the lower lawns, while Demeter holds court at the pool.  French doors from almost every room invite the outdoors in and create a seamless transition between the indoors and out making this tranquil space ideal for both large scale entertaining or intimate family gatherings.

No detail was spared in the creation of this elegant chateau.  The stunning period elements fuse seamlessly with the conveniences of todays active lifestyle creating a warm inviting space that is a dazzling backdrop to everyday life.

Mill Valley

Family-friendly Mill Valley is all about schools and sports. Nestled at the foot of Mount Tamalpais, homes in the Marin County city range from 500-square-foot hunter's cabins to multimillion-dollar mansions tucked away on winding, narrow lanes under the redwoods.
Coffee is king in Mill Valley. Downtown, three separate coffee shops do a brisk business. At the Depot, as the sunny town center is called, moms with strollers, kids on tricycles, and teenagers kicking hacky sacks relax in the open-air plaza, which now houses an independent bookstore and cafe. The Depot is also a jumping-off spot for hikers and mountain bikers heading up the slopes of Mount Tamalpais. Nightlife in Mill Valley is anchored by Sweetwater Music Hall, which hosts many well-known musical acts.
As the groomed playing fields at the community center attest, sports are big in Mill Valley, with soccer, baseball, and lacrosse leagues all popular.
